Alas

16" X 12" Watercolour

I've been life painting over the winter in the Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin. I don't think that the model knew that the skull was real. Apparently it belonged to a twelve year old child. The Academician couldn't tell me how the skull had come into the possession of the Royal Hibernian Academy, but they have links with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, so possibly it arrived that way.

The poor child! We all treated that skull with respect.
